Commission to design the new entrance for Anne Frank House
Bierman Henket architecten has been commissioned by the Anne Frank Foundation to design a new entrance for the Anne Frank House.
The Anne Frank House is one of the most important museums in the Netherlands, with more than 1.2 million people visiting the historical site every year. To ease circulation within the museum, and thus manage the queues and ensure safety inside and around the Anne Frank House, it is vital to accommodate (waiting) visitors as best as possible and to improve the logistics around the entrance.
The neighbouring student housing has been acquired to add extra space to the museum. The new entrance hall will allow visitors to find their way more easily and includes a separate entrance for groups and visitors already in possession of admission tickets. The location of the museum shop, offices and educational spaces will be revised, a cloakroom will be added, and sanitary facilities will be expanded.
The work will be carried out over the coming years in phases, ensuring that the Anne Frank House remains open for visitors.
